Grilled Pork Chops with Fresh Peach Ginger Sauce

Grilled Pork Chops with Fresh Peach Ginger Sauce

Summer is winding down, but I’m still grilling because pork is so wonderful on the grill.  This recipe takes pork chops, marinates them in lots of flavorful fluids, grills them and tops them with this beautiful fresh peach sauce.  My sweet neighbor’s peach tree is as abundantly overflowing with peaches as her nine-month expectant daughter-in-law who is ripe for delivery any day now.  We’re all enjoying the ripe peaches as we wait for the much anticipated delivery of the fruit of her womb.  Ok, that’s a little random, but the analogy seems relevant.

Fresh peaches are a blessing of late summer.  So sweet, so juicy, so nutritious!  Peaches are a decent source of vitamin C and vitamin A, both antioxidants which help us battle free radicals associated with aging and inflammation.  Peaches also boast a fair amount of potassium, so needed after workouts and for good blood pressure control.

Grilled Pork Chops with Fresh Peach Ginger Sauce

Prep Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 4-6 servings

  • Grilled Pork Chops with Fresh Peach Ginger Sauce
  • Marinade
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp each red wine vinegar and fresh lemon juice (from about 1 lemon)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 4 (4-6 ounce) pork chops
  • Fresh Peach Ginger Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp sliced green onions
  • 1 Tbsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2 cups diced fresh peaches, peeled and pitted
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • Sea salt to taste
  1. Combine all the marinade ingredients except the pork and mix well. Pour the marinade into a ziploc bag or baking dish and add the pork chops, making sure the marinade completely covers the pork. Cover and chill in refrigerator for at least one hour but no more then 8 hours.
  2. Remove the pork from the refrigerator and let sit for at least 20 minutes before grilling.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Grill the pork chops about 5-6 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature is about 150 to 155 degrees. Remove from the grill and allow to rest 10 minutes before serving.
  4. For the Fresh Peach Ginger Sauce: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add green onions and cook, stirring frequently until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in ginger and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add chopped peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon and dry mustard and continue to cook until peaches have softened and released their juices, 10 to 15 minutes. Season with salt to taste and serve on top of grilled pork chops.
